Recommended eParcel Workflow

The recommended process for creating, packing, manifesting and fulfilling eParcel orders

Written by Meegan

When using Australia Post eParcel with SellerDash, we recommend following the workflow below.

This process gives you the opportunity to make any necessary changes before your shipments are finalised, allows all parcels being lodged that day to be manifested together, and reflects how the eParcel integration works within SellerDash.

For eParcel shipments, orders cannot be fulfilled until their labels have been manifested. The Fulfill Order option only becomes available after the labels have been successfully manifested with Australia Post.

Recommended workflow

Create Labels → Pack Orders → Manifest Labels → Fulfill Orders

Step 1 – Create Labels

Review your imported orders and confirm the correct shipping service, package type, dimensions and weight.

Once everything has been checked, create your shipping labels in SellerDash.

At this stage, labels can still be cancelled and recreated if any changes are required.

Step 2 – Pack Orders

Pack your orders before manifesting your labels.

This allows you to identify and correct any issues before your shipments are finalised, including:

  • An item is out of stock.

  • The selected package needs to be changed.

  • The parcel weight differs from the estimated weight.

  • The shipping service needs to be updated.

  • The shipping address needs to be corrected.

If any changes are required, simply reset the order in SellerDash, make the necessary amendments, and create a new label.

Why is this important?
Once an eParcel label has been manifested, it can no longer be cancelled through SellerDash.

Step 3 – Manifest Labels

Once all orders have been packed and checked, manifest your labels in SellerDash.

Australia Post recommends creating a single manifest containing all parcels being lodged that day, making this the ideal point in your workflow to manifest your shipments.

⚠️ Important: Manifesting your labels finalises them in the Australia Post eParcel system. Once a label has been manifested, it cannot be cancelled through SellerDash.

If you need to cancel a manifested label, contact Australia Post eParcel Lodgement Support on 1800 028 361 or submit a request using the Australia Post Lodgement Technical Support form.

Step 4 – Fulfill Orders

After your labels have been successfully manifested, the Fulfill Order option becomes available in SellerDash.

Fulfilling your orders updates your Shopify orders, marks them as fulfilled, and prompts Shopify to send your shipment confirmation email.

Because manifesting finalises your labels with Australia Post, eParcel orders cannot be fulfilled before they have been manifested. This ensures tracking information is only sent after the shipment has been successfully finalised and is ready to be lodged with Australia Post.

Why this workflow is recommended

Following this workflow helps you:

  • Make changes after packing but before labels are manifested.

  • Cancel and recreate labels if stock, packaging or shipment details change.

  • Avoid needing Australia Post to manually cancel manifested labels.

  • Follow Australia Post's recommendation of lodging all parcels for the day on a single manifest.

  • Ensure customers receive tracking information only after shipments have been finalised with Australia Post.
